New photo from Mom & Dad

Mom & Dad complete their first two weeks with a smile!

Branch activities from Aug. 20 to Aug. 27, 2007

We had fun joining the branch members for their Family Home Evenings on Monday nights. A nice lesson is given by one of the members and then they have an activity. The first Monday, they played Lazer Tag and the other Monday they played Apples to Apples. A small group of us that didn't want to sit on the floor played Boggle. A young man that has been taking the missionary discussions attended the activities. I went to the Relief Society Enrichment meeting on Tuesday. The photo of me playing pool was taken at the Friday Activity Night. Last Sunday we were the main speakers in Sac. mt. and after church we went to the home of one of the councilors in the branch presidency with all the other branch members for a barbecue. They have a beautiful yard with a pool. The meal was delicious and it was a nice opportunity to get to know everyone better.

Elders and Pres. Edwards moving furniture into our apartment

The Kalamazoo Elders and Pres. Edwards moving some mission furniture into our apartment. We were so grateful for their help. They even hauled the stuff up to the apartment that we had brought in our cars. They did it with a happy and willing heart even when they had to go up some steep stairs. The biggest challenge was bringing the heavy desk up the stairs!

Photos of our first two weeks in Michigan

Three Cups of Tea

I just wanted to thank JoLynne for recommending the book "Three Cups of Tea." It is an amazing story and one that can really move a person to want to act. One of my favorite parts, other than the story itself, is when a thirteen-year-old Jewish boy from Philadelphia hears the story and donates over $1000 of his bar mitzvah money to the cause. He says "It makes no difference that I'm a Jew sending money to help Muslims. We all need to work together to plant the seeds of peace." Powerful stuff! Thanks again, Jo and Carl!
