Sister Schill: The Power of Music

It was a spine-tingling sensation to hear the 2600 missionaries sing "Called to Serve" at the devotional tonight. We were right down at the front, so we could hear it coming from behind and it was powerful. We had prelude singing that was neat and a missionary choir sang in between the speakers. I'm missionary tired, and I got through my first experience teaching, so I've got to go to bed. I'll post more later!

First Two Days

Today, our second day at the MTC, we focused on learning and then teaching the first discussion about the First Vision and the Book of Mormon. We get all of our materials out of Preach My Gospel. In the afternoon we taught the message to investigators who come to the MTC. Not real ones, but posing as investigators. The ones we had today were real good and raised lots of objections and harsh comments. With the new flexible discussions you don't have to stay to any script, but just teach in your own words, so it gives you more openings where they can add negative comments and objections. We had objections almost from the get-go. We taught for 45 minutes and then afterwards had a critique. I don't think the investigators are as tough on the younger missionaries, and probably are not as free to chastise their presenters as we had. We got comments all over the place. It was fun and we hung in there and finished all of the teaching objectives, then even got a commitment out of them to read, pray and have us back for more discussion. Tonight we had the MTC devotional and enjoyed it. It was Elder Kendrick from the Seventy. We have an extensive reading assignment for tomorrow, so we will be up reading late. We get up at 6 AM to start getting ready. Hope all is going well with all of you, Thanks. Elder Schill

News Alert! Grandma and Grandpa seen roaming the halls of the MTC!

Grandma and Grandpa set apart as full-time Missionaries

After much wait and anticipation, Grandma and Grandpa were set apart as missionaries on July 29, 2007 by President Lloyd. We wish the whole family could have been there to hear the wonderful blessing that was pronounced. They are going to make a big difference in the lives of many single adults in Michigan.

Hi Fam--

Just trying out the blog to see if I understand how to do it. It is a major step for those of us old
folks that aren't so techy. We are excited in the last days before we enter the MTC. Still trying to discuss what we will be teaching with the various people we will be working for in KZ. There are different recommendations that people have for our classes. This will be our final weekend
before we officially start the missionary status. Love to all, Grandpa Schill

Thanks!

I just wanted to thank Rob and Missy for a great reunion! We had a great time!

Aubree, Brinnan, and I just finished the last Harry Potter book last night. It was especially well done--heart-wrenching and heart-warming on so many levels! Steve is back in Costa Rica for the week, but we had fun here in Orem with a 24th hot dog roast with the whole family last night. Hope everyone is well!

Schill Family Reunion 2007

We all had a wonderful time at the 2007 family reunion in Colorado. Thanks to everyone who made this such a nice time and a good send-off to mom & dad to their mission.
