Dog Show- July 2012
Grandpa, Noah, Tennyson, Bella and I went to a fun dog show at Noah's middle school in Carmel Valley. You can see by the photos that the children loved all the different breeds of dogs.

Trip to Yosemite April 20, 2012
We had a lot of fun visiting Yosemite National Park. It was such a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and warmth. While we were eating lunch, Jamisen was fascinated by a squirrel that was looking for crumbs on the ground. Jamisen loved riding the shuttle bus around the park. At one stop we got off the shuttle and had a relaxing stroll up to an area where there was a great view of Half Dome and a place for wading in the water. It was good to be back in this beautiful park. It is so nice that Jeff, Ashley and Jamisen live so close to this wonderful area.
Dad's Birthday Celebration
When dad finished teaching on Thursday the 19th of April, we drove to Fresno to celebrate dad's birthday with Jeff, Ashley and Jamisen. On Dad's request, we had dinner at The Dog House and enjoyed the delicious tri-tip barbecue sandwiches. After our meal, Jeff and Ashley surprised us and took us to a near by mall and treated us to a wonderful massage! For 30 minutes we had the terrific feeling of having our backs, arms and head messaged. We were so relaxed when it was over that we could hardly walk out of the mall. We went back to Jeff and Ashley's home and had birthday cake. We had a fun evening celebrating.

Happy Birthday from Kay
Happy Birthday, Lovable Ron
On April 19, 1775, the American Revolution was suddenly on.
One hundred sixty-five years later, perhaps at dawn,
Came into the world, our lovable Ron.
You soon grew in wit, stature, spirit, and brawn,
Learning baseball and fishing, even mowing the lawn.
You grew up in the Riverside, California, echelon.
Perfecting the trumpet, whereupon
You went to the U, joined the marching band throng.
There you met Barb, your sweetheart, and before long
Into the United States Air Force, no time to yawn
With marriage and children and life's pro's and con's.
Eventually back to the books, a Phd. challenge at Oregon
With family in the Rabbit-Hutch pantechnicon.
Persistence paid off through that great hexagon.
With a career at BYU you forged bravely on
As a Ute, Duck, and Cougar-- a strange phenomenon.
A positive model, you're a true paragon.
In spite of medical setbacks that you've undergone,
A life filled with adventure, a personal "Lake Wobegone,"
Curious where bears live, where salmon will spawn,
Civil War battlefields you've oft strolled upon.
Now on the Monterey Coast you take daily walks, no dog along.
Many years later where have the children gone?
They've followed your pattern; you've passed the baton,
Allowing places for grandparent visits, both here and beyond,
Even close to the land of the spry leprechaun.
To a Kalamazoo Mission you were eagerly drawn
To share Gospel principles, building testimonies, anon.
Then back to your teaching, you've not yet withdrawn.
You read and you study, building a rich lexicon.
Here's a wish, "Happy Birthday" for our dear brother Ron.
Love,
Kay and Reed

Mom/Grandma's 70th Birthday Celebration
Thanks everyone for making my 70th birthday so memorable. I appreciate Ashley's parents for letting us use their beautiful cabin for the party. It was great to have Rich, Beck, Grace, Adam, Claire. Abby and Jo fly up from Houston to join with us. Since I love to take pictures, a camera was the perfect shape for my birthday cake. Jo and Jeff, thanks for baking it, putting it together and decorating it. It was neat that Noah made it possible that all of the family could join in on the celebration through the internet. Ashley made a beautiful birthday sign to hang up and even had a birthday crown for me to wear. We enjoyed a delicious meal and then ate the cake. I was thrilled with my birthday gift, the beautiful book filled with your letters, drawings, and photos. Thank you, everyone for this special gift! Some of the other activities that we did on the 10th were playing in the snow outside the cabin, sledding at Shaver Lake and dancing with the Wii.
