Noah's Birthday July 2, 2013

Noah went to a climbing wall with his family to celebrate his birthday.  He learned to climb while he was at scout camp and really enjoyed it.

Noah's dad made this great boot cake for him.  Everyone was excited to see so much candy on it.
Teej loves climbing too.

Bella is not sure if she likes climbing the steep walls.

Ry and Ang keep the children safe by being their belayers.

Noah received 13 dollars to match his age.

Noah is teaching himself Japanese so this dictionary will come in handy.

Noah loves to fly kites so his grandpa Crapo gave him a four string kite! It will be exciting to learn how to fly this one.
There were trick candle on his cake that kept relighting so Noah had to work really hard to finally blow them out.
We all had fun being at Noah's party.

Trip to San Diego

Noah and Teej were excited to travel to San Diego.

It took for ever to get to our campground in San Diego because of the LA traffic!

We finally made it to the campground.

It didn't take long for Teej and Noah to put up the tent even in the dark.

All ready for bed

While waiting for grandpa to wake up, we had a fun game of Risk.

A cute cotton-tail rabbit visited us.

Everyone was excited to have Wienerschnitzel Chili Hot dogs for lunch.

To make sure we eat healthy, I cut up some peaches to add to our lunch.

The dogs tasted delicious!

Noah, Grandpa and Teej are all ready to go deep sea fishing

The gulls stealing our live bait.

It was fun to catch a fish even though it was too small and I had to throw it back into the ocean.

Teej was thrilled to catch this colorful rock fish.

Grandpa relaxing and enjoying the ocean.

Noah landed a Bass.

Teej was an expert at baiting his hook with live bait.

We had a fun afternoon of fishing.
We had a delicious breakfast at IHOP before going to Old Town San Diego.

Elder Conner Wright

It was a surprise to find out that Elder Wright was a missionary in Jeff and Ashley's ward. We have known the Wright family for many  many years. They live in our  Orem neighborhood and we have watched their children grow up. Here is the note that Jeff emailed me when he sent these two photos.

"Mom, here are the photos of Elder Wright.  We had a BBQ at our house last night and invited all 4 missionaries. It has been good to have another Orem Tiger and even more so, a South Palisade Drivian here in Fresno.  Ashley and I  have been really impressed with our missionaries.  They are all hard workers. We are definitely impressed with Elder Wright as he was the one to lead our spiritual thought and to challenge us.  Also, after dinner and a quick game of the Candy Game for dessert, he jumped up and said that they had to go because they had work to do which was refreshing because a lot of missionaries would be tempted to try to stretch their time.   Elder Wright does the Orem Sixth Ward proud."

Ry, Noah and Teej earn the Iron Bear Award at Camp Chawanakee

Ryan, Teej and Noah start out on their adventure to earn the Iron Bear Award by rowing to the island in the middle of Shaver Lake and sleeping there and at 5AM rowing back to the scout camp. Then they had to run a mile, swim in the cold water to a certain place and back and then act like a bear. (Ryan loved playing the part of a bear.  I wish I had a photo of this part of the challenge).

Getting ready to plunge into the cold water for their swim

Everyone is proud to become Iron Bears!

The symbols of the Iron Bear are drawn on the arms of the scouts that earned the award.  They also received an Iron Bear patch.

Iron Bears!

It was great that Noah and Tennyson could experience Camp Chawanakee together.
