| It is hard to see Yehuda in this photo but he is standing where the biggest stone in the Western Wall ends. It starts beyond where we are standing. It was carved out of a nearby quarry more then 2,000 years ago when the walls were constructed under Herod the Great. The stone is one of the heaviest objects ever lifted by human being without powered machinery. The stone has a length of 45 ft-height of 9.8ft and estimated width between 11ft-15ft. It's weight estimated at 517 tons! How did the people at the time the wall was built ever lift the stone and place it on the stones below it? |
